BANGKOK TRIP DAY2 : Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market

Disclaimer: Stop reading this post with an empty stomach especially in the middle of the night

Visiting floating market is totally a must when you travel to Thailand! I always wanted to visit the authentic Bangkok floating market since I was small.

I choose this floating market because it is only 30 minutes away from Bangkok. It is a good escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. In addition, the floating market is lesser known than the tremendously touristed floating markets such as Damneon Saduak and Amphawa. Most importantly, the visitors here are mainly the locals, so it is not spoilt by the tourists. We could hardly see any tourists in sight, which was a good start in that regard.

HOW TO GO : Get on the BTS train and alight at Wong Wian Yai BTS station. Then, take a taxi to Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market. The fare should cost around 100 baht :)

Remember to tell the destination that you want to go in THAI because some taxi drivers may not understand English. I learnt my lesson when I told the taxi driver my hotel name in English, and he ended up fetching us to another place ==

OPENING HOURS : 9am-4pm, Weekends only

Waiting for the train at Siam BTS station

Ze Beautiful WongWianYai Station :D

We found another tiny market opposite to the floating market. The people here were the locals and they didn't know English at all TT. We were forced to communicate with them using body language HAHA but somehow they were quite friendly.

feeling grumpy because of the hot weather

We then walked to the floating market, welcomed by the amazing aroma of food. It is absolutely a food heaven which I can say. There is no Thai dish you cannot find here. The hardest decision is narrowing down the food choices to three or four, as we only have two stomachs to fit in the food.

Make sure you come early before it gets crowded. :D

Thai Olive! It tasted divine with all of the sauces! Yummy

Seriously, the food here are mouth-watering! I am hungry now

We ordered a huge herb-stuffed fish with raw veggie sticks ( 220baht), PhadThai (50baht) and mango sticky rice ( 80baht) to share. The fish was so so so goood, it tasted fresh out-of-the-ocean fresh! You will never have such a big portion with this price when you are eating out in Msia. Moreover, The PhadThai was the best one I have ever had!!! I was in heaven  OH. MY. GOD.

After that, we hopped in a boat for a cruise along the canal for 60baht. The 90 minutes long tailed boat ride enabled us to explore the rural western reaches of Bangkok province. You can find the boat at the narrow canal near the main section of the market, don't forget to book for a place!

The boat trip stopped at a few places. We hopped out from the boat and began to explore around.

It took us 2-3hours to explore the serene Khlong Lat Mayom. It was indeed a nice experience blending in their beautiful cultures. Khlong Lat Mayom is undoubtedly worth a visit if you are in Bangkok!
